The Houston Chronicle has endorsed Council Member & Vice Mayor Pro Tem Sue Lovell in her bid for re-election to City Council At-Large Position 2:
In a contest of four candidates, the Chronicle endorses two-term incumbent Sue Lovell. She currently serves as vice mayor pro-tem on the council, presiding over meetings when the mayor is out of town. She chairs the council transportation, infrastructure and aviation committee as well as the quality of life and historic preservation committees. She is also a voting member of the Houston-Galveston Area Council.
Lovell began her public service as a community activist in Houston, and has compiled a solid record of accomplishment on council. During her tenure in office, Lovell has been a leader in the fight against graffiti. She also worked on the consent agreement between Metro and the city and pressed the agency to include a customer service component in planning for the light rail system.
Voters should return this energetic and effective representative for a final term.
