Carrying on the Tradition:
A Nod to History

Sue serves on the Democratic National Committee – in the seat held by a Houston legend and one of Sue’s mentors, the late great Billie Carr. It’s a special connection that is always close to mind.

Recently, Houston lost another of its legends – Eleanor Tinsley. Sue, who was close to Tinsley, occupies her at-large seat on today’s City Council.

“I’ve never thought of At-Large Position 2, nor does my staff think of it, as our council seat,” says Sue. “It’s Eleanor’s seat. And whenever we have tough decisions, we pretty much ask the question: “What would Eleanor do?” And then we know we’ll do the right thing.”
